So I saw Life of Pi in the movie theater but when I went, it wan't available in 3D :(
I was super impressed with the the casting choices and performances of the actors and extremely impressed by the effects. Despite the slow start of the movie, it was very beautiful, and in the end, Life Of Pi was more character driven than anything. The characters were so rich and full of life that you couldn't help but fall in love with them. The animators did a wonderful and accurate job of bringing Richard Parker (the tiger) to life and making him the active and vital character that is so incredibly essential to the success of this story. I would recommend seeing Pi in 3D, but I don't think that's it's essential since I didn't see it in 3D and still enjoyed the beautiful effects, but the 3D just takes a beautiful film and makes it a little bit nicer and come to life more.
The spiritual themes are simple and deep and raise more questions about faith and belief than answer anything. Without giving anything away, it's a wonderful story about storytelling and how telling our stories can get us through the most horrible life experiences and to help deal with the aftermath of them. I recommend this film to anyone who hasn't watched it yet.
